SHELBY ANNOUNCES $5 MILLION FOR BIRMINGHAM AIRPORT

U.S. Senator Richard Shelby (R-AL), Chairman of the Appropriations Subcommittee on Transportation, Treasury, and General Government, announced today that the Birmingham Airport Authority will receive $5 million from the Department of Transportation for improvements at the Birmingham International Airport.

These funds will assist the Birmingham International Airport with removal of obstructions in order to prepare for the future runway extension project.

Sen. Shelby said, "I am pleased to announce these funds for the Birmingham International Airport. This is important preliminary work to prepare the airport for its much anticipated runway extension project, which will lead to continued economic growth in the region."
