Shelby Encourages Investment in Nation’s Infrastructure to Grow Economy and Create Jobs

WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Senator Richard Shelby (R-Ala.), a member of the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works, today discussed the widespread transportation and infrastructure challenges facing the country with Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao. He also addressed the urgent need to find opportunities to modernize current systems through the use of private capital.

“If we are going to grow our economy and create good jobs – and I think the President is right about this – we have got to address our infrastructure inadequacy,” said Senator Shelby.

Senator Shelby’s comments came during a full committee hearing titled “Improving America’s Transportation Infrastructure: The Road Forward.”
