Shelby Announces $15,388 for City of Dothan

U.S. Senator Richard Shelby (R-Ala.), ranking member of the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Commerce, Justice and Science, today announced that the Department of Justice will award $15,388 to the City of Dothan.  This grant is awarded through the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program, which provides funding for law enforcement agencies to implement programs that prevent and control crime based on their own identified needs.  Senator Shelby was instrumental in securing this funding.

“The Byrne grants are incredibly important to local law enforcement officers that are serving on the front lines of our communities each day,” said Shelby.  “We must ensure that our law enforcement agencies have up-to-date equipment to help them do their jobs effectively.  The City of Dothan and Houston County will use this funding to purchase Mobile Data Terminals that will help both agencies solve crimes faster and access criminal information in a timely manner.”
