U.S. Senator Richard Shelby (R-Ala.), a senior member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, today announced that the Department of Homeland Security will release $70,766 to the Collinsville Volunteer Fire Department in DeKalb County. The funding is provided through the Assistance to Firefighters Grants Program.
“This funding is critical to ensuring that Alabama’s first responders have the resources necessary to keep our communities safe,” said Shelby. “These funds will help the Collinsville Volunteer Fire Department improve operations and safety programs.”
The Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency awarded these funds as a part of the Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program. This program will distribute $500 million in direct federal assistance to fire departments and nonaffiliated emergency medical service organizations nationwide this year.
