U.S. Senator Richard Shelby (R-Ala.), a senior member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, today announced that the Department of Homeland Security will release $100,102 to the Hay Valley Volunteer Fire Department in Walker County. The funding is provided through the Assistance to Firefighters Grants Program.
“Firefighters are in the field every day protecting our citizens,” said Shelby. “For this reason, we must ensure that our first responders have the most up-to-date equipment available. This funding will help the Hay Valley Volunteer Fire Department improve its operations and safety programs.”
The Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency awarded these funds as a part of the Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program. This program will distribute $500 million in direct federal assistance this year to fire departments and nonaffiliated emergency medical service organizations nationwide.
