Shelby Announces $550,000 for University of Alabama at Birmingham Transportation Research Center

U.S. Senator Richard Shelby (R-Ala.), a senior member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, today announced that Department of Transportation's Federal Transit Administration has awarded $550,000 to the University of Alabama at Birmingham’s (UAB) transportation research center.

“As our nation’s population continues to grow, our highways and interstates will see a steady increase in vehicle traffic,” said Shelby.  “For this reason, it is critical that we do all we can to lessen congestion on our roads and ensure that our transportation infrastructure is capable of handling increased traffic.  UAB will use this funding to conduct research aimed at improving our nation’s transportation system.”
