U.S. Senator Richard Shelby (R-Ala.), a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, today announced that the Department of Transportation has awarded $902,580 for the construction of a round-the-mountain loop trail at Red Mountain Park in Birmingham. Senator Shelby was instrumental in securing this funding.
“It is important that Alabamians have access to local areas where they can participate in recreational activities while enjoying the beautiful natural scenery our great state has to offer,” said Shelby. “This important funding will allow for the construction of a loop around the mountain that will provide the community with increased access to the park. Upon completion of the Red Mountain Park Project, Birmingham residents and visitors will be able to enjoy walking trails, biking, horse-back riding and recreational fields close to city.”
