U.S. Senator Richard Shelby (R-Ala.), a senior member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, today announced that the Delta Regional Authority (DRA) will award $137,500 to Sumter County for construction of a road that will provide access to a biodiesel facility.
“Once completed, the biodiesel facility in Sumter County will experience a large amount of traffic going to and from the site daily,” said Shelby. “This important funding will allow the County Commission to construct a third industrial road that will help alleviate congestion associated with the expected traffic.”
The Delta Regional Authority grants target projects that will improve infrastructure in distressed counties and develop transportation infrastructure that will facilitate economic development. DRA also provides funding to job training programs that work with existing public education institutions.
