U.S. Senator Richard Shelby (R-Ala.), a senior member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, today announced that the Delta Regional Authority (DRA) will award $205,743 to Greene County for upgrades to its sewer lagoon system.
“It is critical that Alabama’s communities have a strong infrastructure in place to support area businesses and attract new industries that bring new jobs,” said Shelby. “This funding will be used to upgrade Greene County’s sewer lagoon system with additional water, electricity and an Ultra Violet Light disinfection system. These improvements will ensure that residents of Greene County will have access to safe and clean water.”
The Delta Regional Authority grants target projects that will improve infrastructure in distressed counties and develop transportation infrastructure that will facilitate economic development. DRA also provides funding to job training programs that work with existing public education institutions.
