Sen. Richard Shelby, R-Ala., is in Alabama today continuing his town hall meetings but took time to comment on last night's historic health care vote by the U.S. House, calling the new law a "terrible mistake."
"The American people want sensible health care reform that lowers costs and increases access by building upon the strengths of the best health care system in the world," Shelby said. "They do not want the government overhaul that this bill forces upon them."
Shelby and Sen. Jeff Sessions both voted against the Senate bill in December. As the House-passed package of amendments arrives in the Senate this week, both Alabama Republicans will again be in opposition.
