U.S. Senator Richard Shelby (R-Ala.), a senior member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, today announced that the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) has awarded $69,640 to Auburn University for the Small Town and Rural Counties Design Initiative and Planning project.
“Small towns across America are often deprived of access to assistance from professions that can help address their communities' needs,” said Shelby. “Through the Small Town Design Initiative, small communities in Alabama have access to the talents and resources of the professionals at the Auburn University Center for Architecture and Urban Studies.”
In addition to ARC funds, the total expected project cost of $87,050 includes $17,410 from state and local sources.
