U.S. Senator Richard Shelby (R-Ala.), a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, today announced that the U.S. Department of Transportation will release $486,250 to the Center for Injury Sciences at the University of Alabama at Birmingham for research on trauma care.
“Unfortunately, as more and more vehicles come on to our roads and highways each year, it is inevitable that an accident will occur,” said Shelby. “The funds from this grant will be used for research aimed at reducing morbidity and mortality associated with car accidents. I am hopeful that the findings from this research will help save lives.”
